Our COVID Commitment

During these very uncertain times, Degrees of Freedom is committed to following scientific and public health guidelines. Our goal is to open our isolated 500+ acre campus slowly and cautiously while keeping our students, staff, and community healthy and safe. These measures reflect the most recent local, state, and federal guidance and are subject to change.

Transportation, Food & Lodging

On-campus rotations include dorm lodging, meals, and local transportation. Travel to our campus must follow the Vermont quarantine guidelines. Currently, we require a strict 7-day quarantine and a negative COVID-19 PCR test prior to arriving on campus. No student vehicles are permitted on campus in order to maintain an additional 7-day quarantine during the rotation. Students will be subject to a second COVID-19 test after 7 days of being on campus.

Dorm rooms are single-occupancy; bathrooms are shared with no more than four other students. Three meals and a snack are offered each day in a large dining hall with open ventilation. Students are encouraged to enjoy their meals outside in the patio area. Dietary considerations will be accommodated when indicated in advance.

Health & Safety

Students will remain on our 500+ acre campus for all two weeks. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in removal from campus or the program.

The following safety protocols are in place:

  1. Daily temperature checks before all meals

  2. Outdoor classes and activities whenever possible

  3. Masks (provided by DoF) for indoor activities

  4. Classrooms at no more than 50% of typical capacity

  5. Daily symptom-check text message reminders

  6. Disinfecting all common spaces before and after each activity

  7. Required hand-washing and sanitizer use (provided)

  8. If a fellow or staff member exhibit any symptoms, they will be fully isolated on campus and shift to online participation until they receive a negative test result

  9. Upon completion of the campus rotation, students must continue to submit symptom-check responses every day for 14 days and a negative COVID test.

  10. Participation in a cell-phone based contact-tracing tool shall be in use for 2 weeks prior to arriving on campus, and for two weeks following the rotation.

If a student or staff member tests positive, DoF will secure COVID tests for all participants and provide adequate accommodations for everyone to remain on campus and self-isolate for an additional 14 days.
