Is there a SAT/ACT requirement?

No. SAT/ACT scores are not required. However, students may submit them as part of their application.

What areas can you take courses in?

Our partner colleges offers courses across the following areas:

What will my schedule be like?

Freedom Year

Student will engage in synchronous sessions and courses Monday-Thursday evenings. This program is roughly a 20 hours per week commitment.

Liberation Launch

Students will engage in synchronous & asynchronous courses through our partner, Monday-Thursday evenings.

What courses are available?

A sample of course overviews are available here. Official course titles and descriptions will be made available to admitted students.

Can I take courses at other schools/colleges?

Yes.

Rotations


What is a “rotation”?

Rotations are two-week in-person sessions where students will build community and learn new skills. See Rotation overview for more details.

Are rotations mandatory? And if so, how do I get there?

Rotations are an important aspect of community building and are therefore mandatory. The cost of transportation is included up to $250, and our staff will help arrange your travel.

Where are the rotations held?

Rotations will be held primarily on the Degrees of Freedom Campus, with opportunity for students to travel to Ponce, Puerto Rico as well.

Are dorms provided on campus? 

Yes. During rotations, each student will be provided with a single-bed dorm to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Do I have to pay for food, living arrangements, or transportation?

While on campus, all food and accommodation costs are covered by the DoF.

What about COVID?

We will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. See Health and Safety for more information.

How will international students participate in rotations?

International students will be responsible for securing an appropriate visa to attend rotations.

Student Life

Will you have clubs?

Students are encouraged to form virtual clubs with their classmates across the globe, or form local clubs with students based in their hometown. Students must identify a staff member to sponsor each student org.

What amenities are available on campus?

Our 533-acre campus features an organic farm & greenhouse, fitness center, gym, soccer field, dance studio, movie theatre, indoor climbing gym, outdoor equipment, kayaks & canoes, art studio, ceramics studio, maker space, woodworking studio, 100,000-volume library, science labs and miles of hiking trails

Logistics

How much does it cost to attend? and what does it include

Both Freedom Year and Liberation Launch are $9,000 per year. This includes the cost of tuition, health services and up to $250 per rotation in travel expenses.

Do you have financial aid & scholarships?

Yes. DoF offers need & merit-based scholarships as well as supports Freedom Year students with identifying high school grants. Our partners will support Liberation Launch students in accessing federal aid.

Can I work?

Yes, as long as you are still able to meet your student obligations.

I’m not a US Citizen. Can I participate in this program?

International students residing abroad may be eligible to participate in coursework delivered virtually, but should consult with an immigration attorney prior to participating.
